Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients

1 apple, diced

2 tsp maple syrup

¼ tsp cinnamon

½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1 cup water, or milk

½ Tbsp maple syrup or brown sugar, optional

½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp vanilla

pinch of sea salt

2 Tbsp nuts, finely chopped

 

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine apples, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Sauté for a few minutes until apples are soft. Set aside.

  2. Add oats, water, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt to saucepan. Bring mixture to a low boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and continue cooking for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Oatmeal is ready when the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and are smooth and creamy.

  3. Transfer to a bowl and top with cinnamon apples, nuts, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
